HISTORY
Rokurou is the sixth and youngest son of the Rangetsu clan, a family renowned for their masterful swordsmanship, duty, and commitment. The Rangetsu clan was founded when their ancestor came to the continent from a foreign country and was helped by a noble family, the Capaluses. Since then, the clan has served the Capaluses, assisting them as bodyguards, assassins, body doubles—whatever is called for them. It is because of this past that the family, and Rokurou in particular, holds the following creed: "Always return that which you've borrowed, even if you must repay it with your life." So how did someone from a prestige lineage fall into a daemon?
For most of his life, Rokurou has always trained and therefore competed against his oldest brother, Ichirou. However, Ichirou was basically a natural genius and Rokurou always lost against him no matter how hard he trained. This fostered what would become a deep intense hatred, and once Ichirou became the head of the family (now called "Shigure"), Rokurou set to seek his own personal revenge and kill him. (It's kind of what the Rangetsus do; strange warrior family.) He created a lie to justify his attempts to execute Shigure, but ultimately failed and humiliated himself. Sentenced to essentially life in prison (500 years), Rokurou's intense hatred, anger, shame, and jealousy ultimately drives up his malevolence and transforms him into a yaksha—a war daemon. All at age 19 (darn those teenage hormones).
Three years later, another daemon named Velvet Crowe would break out of her cell and incite a riot prison, allowing him to escape. After informing him the location of his sword, Rokurou vowed to follow and help fight alongside her in repayment of his debt (remember the creed?). Since then he's followed Velvet through her journey of her own vengeance, gathering others along the way. Rokurou himself is able to gain help from the daemon blacksmith, Kurogane, to forge various swords to fight against Shigure. But it would ultimately be Kurogane forging himself into the blade Kurogane's Stormquell that allows Rokurou to beat and kill Shigure in their final battle. He then continues to help Velvet finish her own goals, and with everything more or less "settled," he goes off on his own way to continue his journey to become the strongest swordsman.
Rokurou still has a long path to go to actually supersede the skill and talent of his brother, but at least he's found some peace after finally connecting with him.
PERSONALITY
Rokurou is actually a pretty simple guy every since becoming a daemon. For the most part, he's a chill, easygoing, considerate, honest, friendly guy and at first glance you honestly wouldn't be able to tell he has a dangerous, daemonic side to him. As a daemon many of his old human emotions have become muted so he doesn't feel as deeply or worried about things as often as humans do, and that just lends to his easygoing nature. But he's still a very energetic and happygolucky, carefree kind of guy, usually looking at things in a positive light. He's also usually the one trying to pull people back down if they go to extreme, and he can be very understanding, usually taking things objectively. And despite becoming a daemon, he still holds his family's values close to heart. He'll remain steadfast, loyal, protective, and will repay any debts owed. He also is very proud of his family heritage, and anyone who besmirches a family member's skill, even if it's Shigure, will incur his wrath. Despite whatever insecurities or jealousies he has over his brother or anyone else who may happen to fall into a similar position, that doesn't blind him to the fact that they are worthy of respect and admiration. He also holds very true to his honor and values, sometimes to a fault.
However, he's not completely a "blind follower." He may help others and can be selfless, but he's actually quite selfish in his goals and motivations. He'll even work around and make loopholes to get out of any of his previously placed debts when he had been human, saying that now he's a daemon it doesn't really matter as much, anymore. He's a very "go at his own pace" and independent kind of guy, doing whatever he feels like and following his own path. And while he will help others, if it starts moving against to what he wants to do, it's not impossible that he will also turn around. Fortunately, such circumstances will only really come about if it involves anything with fighting.
As a war daemon, he really, really likes fighting. And swords. One of his main catchphrases is, "my sword is my life" and it's a reflection of his life as a swordsman. Just as a daemon, it gets kicked up several notches. Get in the way of his fight, then friend or not, he'll turn on them. That said, it should be noted that's more of an unconscious, "natural" side of him being a war daemon. He'll apologize and try to warn people beforehand to try and not have people get unwittingly dragged in, but after that all bets are off. So he's a nice guy, but with extreme bloodlust.
And finally, there's his anger and the other negative feelings that made him a daemon. Pretty much all of it is related to his relationship with Shigure, but it's still a reflection of his flaws. His intense hatred and anger consumed him so much that it blinded him, allowing his insecurities and jealousy cloud his judgment and become too reckless or overconfident. A lot of this has been tempered and he has a much better understanding of his flaws now, working on turning it around to use them as a strength rather than a weakness. But sometimes it can crop up if he feels particularly emotional or passionate about something, losing his cool and becoming more of a brash hothead.
However despite all that, it's that same pride that allows him to retain a lot of his "human" self. Although he'll do almost anything to get stronger, he doesn't want to become a mindless monster. Instead he prefers and takes great pride in his ability to maintain his reason despite being a daemon. Sure he sometimes loses it when he gets out of control in a fight, but he has yet to go truly berserk. That could of course change in the future, but for now he's doing pretty good.
QUIRK IN-DEPTH: His quirk is mainly focused on having an extreme distaste and awareness of wolves, reflecting how the huntsman had to deal with the wolf of Red Riding Hood's story. So whenever he sees or catches a whiff of a wolf, he's immediately hostile and might even just go ahead and attack. This is coupling with his own natural tendency to seek out strong opponents to fight. Of course he'll have the sense of mind to realize that those inheriting wolf essences aren't really wolves. So while he might give them a little "surprise attack" in greeting, he'll actually be friendly with them—unless they actually are annoying or deserving of their "wolfish" character, then it's just one of those see how it goes deals. Blots and monsters, however, are an immediate huntfest.
ABILITIES
In canon Rokurou wields two short swords and by his canon point he's also wielding two greatswords. Although his weapons are significant, since they aren't coming over he has to create his own weapons. Normally he'd have just simple swords, but thanks to his essence his swords are turning into gunblades. They'll still look mostly like his Japanese styles swords, but they will have the additional trigger at the hilt that will allow him to shoot "magical" bullets. He's honestly not going to be utilizing that much for a while as he prefers getting up close and personal.
Thanks to some upgrades, Rokurou now has a total of eight swords in his arsenal, including the regain version of Kurogane and Stormhowl.
STYLE: A Dual wielding physical sword fighter with the occasional elemental attacks. For quick easy fights, he'll utilize the shortswords for a faster onslaught. He can perform fast combos and is fairly agile and acrobatic. But for bigger foes or larger mobs, he'll whip out the greatswords for additional cleaving damage and harder hitting attacks. He's a little slower, but no less deadly.
Due to his gunblades, he is also capable of firing off a few shots and has practiced enough where he can hit long range targets with decent accuracy. He still prefers to use his blades and only fires when necessary.
SKILLS: He'll be able to perform most of his martial artes, though he'll have to modify a few to fit the weapon. His Form Artes are pretty much out, so only the technical based artes.
From his essence, he'll have some cool huntsman related skills:
- Tracking. He'll have a higher proficiency in tracking. Picking up trails, spotting telltale marks, etc.
- Blood trails. Through his daemon eye, he'll also be able to pick up blood trails and auras. This is something he'll have to train to be really good at, but at least that the start he'll be able to spot blood and sense unusual beings faster and easier than the average person.
- Nature knowledge. He'll also have a better understanding and knowledge of nature, instinctively knowing what's safe and not. And while he won't be communicating with woodland creatures, he'll have a better sense about what's going on in forests and other wooded areas.
- Animal companions. An upgrade has granted him a female red hawk, whom he's named Akari. He has also acquired a male black horse named Hiei (bought on his own). He's still learning the ropes on hawking, but he's more intermediate for horseback riding.
STRENGTHS: Anything involving swords.
WEAKNESSES: HE HAS THEM I JUST CAN'T THINK OF IT RIGHT NOW
ELEMENTS: Although he doesn't have anything "magical," his main elements are earth and fire. Most of it will come from the bullets, but he'll be able to execute some sword artes similar to his original set.
HOUSING
APPEARANCE: It's a fairly simple but nice log cabin with a few extras thanks to the upgrades from the campaigns.

EXTRA: Some other additions include a well, a butcher's station and meat shack, an additional shed, a small stable, a small garden for some vegetables and herbs, and a small dojo-like room for training. He also converted an area outside of the cabin for both sword training and target practice. There are many swords. Many swords.
