Really could use a nice bottle of sake right about now... But yeah, they took away my weapons. It'll be a while before I can get them back, though—not until I finish some community service and the doctors are forbidding me from any sword training anyway due to my injuries, so a few weeks to a month.
[IT'S PAIN AND TORTURE CAN YOU SEE THE AGONY IN HIS FACE. Honestly he'd buck the system and do it, anyway, but since they do have Kurogane under lock and key, well. He has to play nice.
Again PAIN AND TORTURE.]
Since I'm going to be stuck here a while and I'm going to be bored out of my mind, you can just bring me—what did you call them, comics? [Surprise, he doesn't know about this comic thing. Well, not much. He might have heard of them from someone here, but never read any.]
[ He seems so... surprised by this?? Shocked even! ]
Boy are you missing out.
[ He might chuckle a little as he burrows under the blanket, curling up on his side with his head on his pillow. ]
They have all kinds back home. There's ones about superheroes and ones about magic lands and some about video game worlds and robots... there's a whole bunch to read.
[ And, deciding to try and show Rokurou what he means through the image function of the amulets, Trunks thinks about various comic covers and insides to try and show the brightly coloured (and sometimes not coloured) images with speech bubbles and stories. ]
Don't you have stories and stuff where you're from?
They're not picture books! They have some for adults, too. And sometimes they're thicker and go one for a really long time. So it's not just one book and that's it, the end. There's lots of them that come after it.
I mean, my mom says that everything works out and stuff but I don't know if that's for sure or not because I know there's different timelines and stuff that people come from and so maybe I come from a different timeline where things don't work out.
No seriously, this is not the kind of "secret" he expected at all, so there's a visible look of surprise as he listens. ...Hrm.]
Well, it's natural to feel that way. [Although it's kind of a shame that a kid his age has to actually deal with that kind of concept. Kids should be kids and be able to live freely without worrying about the harsh realities of the world.] But there's no real use worrying about it, either. The way I see it, no future is set in stone.
[ Trunks is quiet for a bit before he nuzzles his pillow a little more. ]
There's this guy back home... he's real mean and he's killing everyone... my dad died trying to fight him. Goten and I are really all that's left at the moment and we're trying our best... but I don't think it'll work because before I arrived here... I think he got us.
[ Trunks comes to frown, feeling small and weak again. ]
That's why I got upset, too. Because people were getting hurt and some died and just like back home, I couldn't really do anything.
I'm sorry. [Both for what he went through and for not exactly helping matters. If he could, he'd give the boy a pat on the head, but as it is there's just that warm, reassuring brainwave.
And this time he doesn't really say much more, letting Trunks speak to let more of it out if he wants.]
[ Trunks takes a moment before he does decide to continue. ]
So, you know... I'm scared that if I go back home, I'll go and die because... I don't want to die. I mean, I know I'll have to some day but... I don't want to be killed like that.
[ It's a scary thing for a kid to really think about, let alone have that be a possibility waiting for him back home. ]
But don't say anything, ok?
[ Because he prefers to keep that worry to himself and enjoy his time here... while he can. ]
I won't—I promised, remember? [Just another brainwave pat.
But then he kind of leans back on his own pillow, staring up at the ceiling as he mulls over Trunks secret fears.] Do you need any help or anything? To help you deal with it? I know you're a tough kid, but it's bound to drag you down if you keep it to yourself all the time.
It would make for an interesting challenge I'll admit. [A light grin.] But nah, I mean here—not that I'm sure what to offer, either. All I can think about is training.
Since you're not sure what's going on at home, might as well try to do what you can here. You already started up the Knights of Thras, might as well go all the way. Who knows, maybe if we figure out how this whole world travel thing works, you could actually take that training back with you and kick his ass.
[He COULD say the possibility of Mr. Mean Guy coming into this world, but why make things worse...]

[ Gently, he pats the blanket down around him, making himself rather comfortable. ]
Hey, Rokurou. No matter what happens, we can always count on each other, right? Even if people might not be happy, we have each other at least.
no subject
But he can't help grin a little bit at Trunks's words.]
Given how you're still speaking to me after all that's happened? Yeah, you can count on me. But you have other people who have your back, too, right?
no subject
[ So smol, so strong, so confident in himself. ]
Is it ok if I come visit you in a day or two? I can bring you stuff to read if you want.
no subject
Sure, shouldn't be a problem. I won't be going anywhere, at least.
[Ha...haaaa...
...]
I'd ask you to bring some alcohol, but I'd feel bad asking a kid your age to try and sneak it in.
[Apparently he has some kind of age cutoff.]

[ PERSONALLY, Trunks would be much happier with comics and toys but, hey, whatever moves your furniture?? ]
Did they take your swords away and stuff? Are you gonna get them back?

Yeah we do, but... How is this different from picture books for kids?
no subject
[ GOSH ROKUROU. ]
no subject
Think I'm going to have to read one of these to see what you mean. Got any with a lot of sword fighting?
[Of course.]
no subject
[ To be fair, they're all cool as far as Trunks is concerned.
Although, it's after a moment and settling a little more that Trunks slowly blinks his eyes as he lays his there on his pillow still. ]
Hey, Rokurou. Can I tell you a secret? But you have to promise not to tell.
no subject
[Is Trunks going to fall asleep on him.]
And a secret, huh? Sure, I promise.
[Who would he tell, anyway...]
no subject
Back home... I'm scared I'm gonna die.
[ Little morbid for a secret, right? ]

Thanks, Rokurou.
no subject
[But there's a grin, one that widens just a bit when he hears the thanks, sensing that the boy's mood is improving if even for a little bit.]
Now, isn't it past your bedtime?
